Viscosity is an OpenVPN client for Macintosh users, providing “…a complete OpenVPN solution for Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) or Snow Leopard and does not require any additional downloads or software.” It has automated updates, and even integrates with GROWL, so you can easily see the changes in status when they occur. As it seems that Tunnelblick has currently some issues with Snow Leopard, we recommend Viscosity for such users.
First, download and unpack the TUVPN Configuration files in a folder on your system:
http://www.tuvpn.com/downloads/openvpnmac.zip
Now, download the Viscosity.dmg installation file from the Viscosity website (www.viscosityvpn.com) and save it to your drive. Open the Viscosity.dmg file from the location you saved it in.
Drag Viscosity to your Applications folder.
Eject the Viscosity disk image.
Launch Viscosity from your Applications folder.
Click on the Viscosity application from your Status Bar and select Preferences. With the “Connections” tab highlighted, click the + sign to add a connection. Select “Import Connection”.
Important Note For Dedicated IP VPN Service Users: Before importing openvpn.conf file, Dedicated users MUST enter the VPN Server for which they have subscribed. This is done by simply editing the openvpn.conf file and replacing the line vpn.tuvpn.com with the VPN server you have susbscribed to.
Navigate to the folder where you saved your TUVPN Configuration files. Select the openvpn.conf file, and click Open.
You should now see the confirmation that your configuration for the TUVPN connection was read and imported.
Close the Preferences window and you are ready to connect.
If you wish to confirm that you really are now enjoying new freedoms, security and anonymity on the Internet, go to an IP identification site (e.g. www.whatismyipaddress.com ) where you can see that your IP is now a TUVPN server node in an entirely new location....and probably a new country!
Enjoy your new freedom and security!
