Execute Packet Manager

Select Synaptic Packet Manager.

Search OpenVPN package

Click on Search button, and search for openvpn.

Install OpenVPN related packages

Mark for install the following packages :

network-manager-openvpn

openvpn

openvpn-blacklist

and click on Apply to install them.

Download TUVPN OpenVPN configuration files

Browse to: http://www.tuvpn.com/downloads/tuvpn.tgz

to download TUVPN's OpenVPN configuration files. Next, open downloaded file with Archive Manager.

Extract to Home

Extract the contents of the downloaded file (tuvpn folder with openvpn config files) to your home folder.

Configure OpenVPN connection

Once you have extracted the configuration files to your home folder, execute Network Manager, and go to VPN Connections and then Configure VPN.

Now click the Import button.

Browse to the extracted folder (tuvpn) in your home directory and choose tuvpn.conf file. Most of the OpenVPN parameters will be drawn from this file automatically.

For Shared IP VPN Service Users: Leave gateway as default (which is vpn.tuvpn.com).

For Dedicated IP VPN Service Users: As gateway, you MUST enter the VPN Server for which you have subscribed.

Now fill in Username and Password with the VPN username and the password you should have received in an email entitled TUVPN.COM Service Activation.

Please be sure to check the box "Use LZO data compression" under Advanced Settings. As in some cases it is  not selected by default.

You should now be able to connect to TUVPN.COM using OpenVPN. Go to Network Manager, VPN Connections and click over tuvpn.

Just the first time that you connect, you have to answer the question: Allow application access to keyring? with Always Allow.

You should now be connected to TUVPN.COM via OpenVPN !

Confirmation of successful connection

If you wish to confirm that you really are now enjoying new freedoms, security and anonymity on the Internet, go to an IP identification site (e.g. www.whatismyipaddress.com ) where you can see that your IP is now a TUVPN server node in an entirely new location....and probably a new country!
